As I have been away on holidays for last couple of weeks here is an update of how the group have raced over the last few weeks, There will be a number of omissions which I’ll apologise in advance.
First report is from the Sorrell Hill Imra race in Blessington which took place on wednesday 8th June with Niall finishing in a fine 2nd place followed by Sonya 14th ( Ist female – also taking 2 minutes off the female course record) Caoimhin 18th and Robbie C 25th.On the friday night (10/06) Laura had an impressive victory in the Braveheart 5k in Trim which is run on grass on a hilly course with her 17.36 also being a course record. On Sunday the 12th June Sonya posted another victory, this time winning the Newbridge 10k in 38.09.
We had a large contingent at the Dunshaughlin 10k which took place on Saturday 18th June. Our first finisher was Ronan K in 34.38 followed by Colm O (35.04) and Paul G (35.24) . Next in was Laura who won the women’s race in (35.40) which was also another PB for her.Laura was followed in in the women’s section by Adrienne (36.48 – 4th) Niamh (37.28 – 5th) and Julia (43.56 – 3rd O/45). Geat performances from all our women. Terry B ran 36,03 with the next 3 men home all posting pb’s . Peter B who has brought his 10k down by 6 minutes in the last 4 months running 36.46.Eoin K ran 37.19 and Paraic S broke 40 minutes for the first time with a 39.39 run. Maurice also had a fine run running 40.43.
Laura completed her preparations for the upcoming European Mountain Running Championships ( where Sonya also represents Ireland) by winning the Brockagh Imra race on Wedneday 22/06.
We had a number from the group running various parkruns over the last couple of weeks but definitely pride of place goes to Brian B who tasted victory for the first time in winning the Tymon Parkrun ( 19.07).Other good runs came from Dave O’ who broke 20 minutes for the first time running 19.47 for 4th place in Naas. Paul G 17.38 in Marlay and Fergal R 17.43 for 3rd in St Annes .
Brendan finished 10th overall at the National Triathlon where Sean B and Gavin also competed.
As I mentioned previously , I am sure I am forgetting a whole number of performances . If there is any significant result you can let me know and will put it up
