Small report this week with it being the Easter Weekend. Although there was only a small number competing , we still had some excellent performances. Today was the Battle of Clontarf 10 mile which took in the Leinster 10 mile championship. Great to say we had the winner of the women’s race with Florrie Curley taking the gold in 66.47 . Florrie’s sister Anne took bronze in the O/45 category in 70.40. In the men’s race newcomer to the group , James Kelly who was running his 3rd race in 8 days came home in a very creditable 5th place in a time of 56.25 which was agonisingly only 1 second off his PB. Phil Kilgannon was next in 59.38( 4th O/40) with Rob Costello (61.49) and another newcomer Mark Hollowed ( 65.15 ).
In far away South Africa , Peter Doyle competed in the 2 Oceans Ultra Marathon run over 56k of hilly terrrain .Peter ran a fine 6.05 for the distance.
Last Thursday was the Streets Of Kilkenny 5k with Paul Fleming showing fine form to run 15.42 to win the O/40 category . James Kelly between his Great Ireland 10k and today’s 10 miler ran 16.03 . Linda Byrne was 4th female in 16.59.
One result I omitted from last week was Niamh Devlin’s fine run in the DKIT 10k were she finished a close 2nd in 37.43.

Terry
