On the competition front we had the Le Cheile 5k in Leixlip on Wednesday evening and Fergal Whitty continues to produce fine results with a 4th place finish overall and 1st O/40 in a time of 16.23 . Maurico Neto broke 20 minutes for the first time with a 19.54 run and Deirdre O’Toole finished 13th female in 22.06.
One result I missed last week was Leah Benson taking 21 minutes of her previous best Marathon time with a 3.36 run in Belfast.
Today we had the Terenure 5 mile and our first home was Phil Kilgannon who ran 28.25 and 4th O/40. Next was Ed Hayes ( 5th O/35 – 28.33) followed by Alasdair Brown ( 28.46) Flor O ‘Donoghue ( 29.39 -5 O/45) Paraic Shortall ( 30.05) Peter Gray ( 30.08 – 2nd O/50) Ollie McGrath ( 30.41) Sonya McConnon ( 32.02 – 3rd O/35) John Fennelly ( 33.29 ) and Leah Benson again with another PB ( 34.14).
