A very busy week on the competition front over the last week with races to report on on almost every day.
On the bank holiday Monday we had the DL Bay 10k with a few of our guys competing. Phil K was our first finisher in 36.32 followed by Caoimhin (39.07) Rob K ( 39.50 , a 2 minute PB) and Tomas (41.34 – PB). Wednesday Caoimhin competed again in the Devils Glen Trail race and was 22nd (38.40) Sonya also competed and was first female taking a full minute off the course record (37.06).
On Friday Sonya claimed another victory , this time winning the Athboy 5k in 18.06. Mary H won the O/45 section in 19.52 and Terry B had a fine run with 5th place in 16.50.
Saturday brought us out west with the Streets of Galway 8k . Laura continued her excellent recent form with 3rd place in a fast time of 27.38. James H ran (28.08) and Phil K (28.28).Yesterday brought us the Rock & Roll races over three distances of 5k,10k and Half Marathon with the girls continuing to lead the way. Kiera won the 10k in a new PB (40.06) with Barbara taking second in 41.04. In the 5k Ed was 8th overall in 17.56 while in the half John C ran 1:29.03 followed closely by Paraic S in 1:29.50 which was also another PB. Paraic S has been chalking up a number of PB’s of late in every distance from 5k up.
