We had a number running in a couple of races during the week. We had our normal crew at the IMRA race on Wednesday with this weeks race being held on by all reports a tricky and technical course in Ballinastoe. Our first home this week was Robbie Costelloe in 12th followed by Sonya McConnon with her 5th successive victory in the female section and 19th overall , Brian Kitson was next in 28th place followed by Liz Wheeler in 34th and 3rd female overall and finally Jack Drea in 50th place.
The following night brought a large contingent from the group to the Docklands 5k which was being held along the city centre quays. Our first home on this occasion in 9th place overall was Rory O’Connor in a time of 15.41. he was followed by Des Kennedy ( 1st O/45 – 16.06) Paul Fleming ( 2nd O/40 – 16.08) Sean Fox ( 3rd O/40 – 16.27) James Hoare (16.32) Laura Shaughnessy ( 2nd Female – 16.34) Colm Costelloe (16.52 PB) Conor MaCarthy (16.54) Brian O Mhurchu ( 17.11) Fergal Roche (17.21) Shane McAuley (17.30) Alasdair Brown (17.53) Paraic Shortall ( 17.55 PB) Alan King ( 18.26) Adrian Black ( 18.56) Kiera Roche ( 19.07) Florrie Curley (2nd O/40 – 19.51) Julia Hackett ( 3rd O/45 – 20.37) and Brian McDonald (20.35).
Yesterday was the European Mountain Running Championships were we had two representatives from the group. In the Mens race Ian Conroy was 23rd overall and in the Womens race Niamh Devlin was 48th. Both wore the Irish vest with distinction and can be very proud of thier performances.
