A lot of race results to report from the past week. I am going to start this week over in Ratoath were the local club held their half marathon. It was great to see we had a newcomer to the podium with Sabrina Keogh taking second place in the Women’s race in a a new PB (1:32.27) . We had 3 more PB’s in this race with Des Feeley running 1:25.57 , Conor Cleary 1:33.47 and Ronan Fennell 1:35.50. Actually our first home in this race was Terry Brady in 10th place 1:20.47.
During the week we had a large number doing the Grant Thornton 5k and by all accounts the course was long. Our first finisher was Ciaran Alyward in a time of 17.00 followed by Paddy Walsh 17:21, Will Byrne 17:22, Ed Hayes 17:24, John Clohissey 18:39 , Paraic Shortall 18:45, Bob Blake 19.:16, Ian Martin 19:15, Rob Costelloe 19:26, Michael Rooney 20:00, Maura Ginty 20:02, Tomas Dunne 20:14 , Orna Dilworth , 20:24 and Conor Patton 21:15. Note , I was at this race and I didn’t see everyone but they do appear on the result sheet.
Yesterday we had 5 finishers in the top 12 of the Lakes 10k . Louis McCarthy ( 2nd- 32:36) Clive Quinn ( 7th – 34:14) Tom Lupton ( 9th – 34:55) Phil Kilgannon ( 10th – 35:40) and Brian O’Mhurchu ( 12th – 35:49) Also running well were Alan Hughes (39:51) and Eoin Kealy (40:27).
Also running yesterday and continuing her winning run was Ruth Fitzgerald who won the Women’s race of the Waterford Greenway Half Marathon in a time of 1:21.58.
Brian O’Shaughnessy was 19th at the Mick Murphy 4 mile in a time of 23:15. Rob Costelloe finished 6th in the Kerry Ultra.
Finally to today and what was definitely a long course was the Mondello 10k. There really needs for something to be done as this is happening far too often. Laura Shaughnessy was 2nd female and 10th overall in a time of 34:45. However judging by her pace and the distance which everyone was getting , she would have run a PB if it was accurately measured. Others running well were Ed Hayes (36:13) Brian Byrne (38:46) Mark O’Connor (39:06) Aidan Blake (39:37) and Tomas Dunne (42:05).
Ronan Kearns won team silver at the World Masters in Malaga in the Cross country event,
Don’t forget we are back in Trinity on Tuesday.
