Don’t know where to start my results round up this time as the results were incredible over a wide number of events and this on the weekend of my 50th birthday.
Suppose the best place to start is over in Rotterdam where Caitriona achieved the olympic qualifying time for the marathon with her 2.44.30 time. It might not get her to Rio but for her to achieve the qualifying time for consecutive olympics is a remarkable achievement. Not to be outdone Ed ran a PB of 2.54 which is an improvement of 7 minutes from last year. Florrie also had a PB with her 3.07. In other marathons today Niall finished 3rd overall in Connemara in what were atrocious conditions. We had 2 sub 3 hour runs in Manchester from Shane Mac (2.54) and Peter G (2.59). A big PB came Alan H with his 3.20 marathon ( 13 minutes improvement ? ) in Vienna.
At the National 10k Laura was a magnificent 5th place (36.08 PB) in what was windy conditions on a tough course. Barbara ran 41.17 . In the men’s race Brendan ran 33.00 for a very fine run.Clohissey bros both ran but not sure of result yet. At the 10k in Enniscorthy Bob B finished 5th overall.
I was out at the K Club yesterday and I witnessed a number of fine performances. Unfortunately times are approx as as is usual results are slow in coming from the BHAA. . In the women’s race we had a magnificent 1-2 with Linda winning in 36.31 and Adrienne 2nd in 38.17. Diane also had a fine run with her 48.47 run. In the mens race we had a big number competing which showed in the results were they encouraged their training partners to a copious amount of PB’s. This should encourage more from the group to get out and compete against each other. Sean Mac was our first home in yet another PB in recent times in running (34.52) . This was followed by Paul G (35.12 PB) Fergal (35.35 approx) Terry (35.50 approx) Alasdair (36.20 PB) Jason (36.43 PB) Eoin K (36.57 PB) Robbie C (37.12 PB) Shane D ( 38.59) Barry B (39.30 approx) Brian B (40.07 PB) Conor P ( 41.25 PB) Dave O (44 mins PB).
Apologies if I missed someone’s result but I think judging from above I can be excused on this occasion. Long may weekends like this continue.
