Beginning the report back last Monday to the Leinster Novice and Masters road race championships in Gowran, Kilkenny. In the novice race Tom Lupton finished in a fine second place overall and with John Kirwan in 19th place helped the Laois team to team gold.
Tom followed up his 2nd place on the road two days later with victory on the hills at the Killaloe IMRA race. Also on Wednesday was the Bray Head hill race with Eimear Fitzmaurice finishing in 3rd place. Also having good runs but no official results yet were Geoff Duff, Robbie Costelloe and Aidan Blake.
On Friday evening Ruth Fitzgerald made it a hat-trick of victories on her travels , this time back down in Waterford with a win at the Splashworld 10k in another PB time of 37.02.
Today we had the Terenure 5 mile race.Our first finisher was Colm Costelloe in a time of 27.38 ( 2nd O/40) followed by Ciaran Alyward ( 28.03 ) Paul Fleming (28.13) Brian O Mhurchu ( 28.20 PB) Mark O’Connor ( 29.58 PB) Andrea Talpo (30.28 PB) Tomas Dunne (33.34). In the women’s race we had Linda Byrne ( 3rd overall / 28.50) Ilona McIlroy ( 30.37 – 6th and 1st O/35) and Kiera Roche ( 31.55)
