On the racing front we had another excellent week beginning with the rain drenched BHAA DCC 5k in Irishtown on Wednesday. Podium finishes have been the norm recently and Paddy Lyons continued the trend with a 3rd place finish in a time of 16.14. Conor McCarthy was next in 9th (17.35) with Eoghan Kerins (19.09) and Conor Patton ( 21.05 ) also having fine runs.
Also on Wednesday our regulars on the mountains took part in the Tibradden IMRA race. Brian Kitson was our first finisher in 14th ( 3rd O/40) Robbie Costello 15th, Gareth Little 32nd , Conor Nolan 33rd – 1st O/60 , Brian McGuickian 38th – 4th O/50 , Fergal Daly 56th, and Peter Doyle 104th.
Yesterday was the Irish runner 10 miler in the Phoenix Park which incorporated the National championship and we had a number of medalists and many other fine performances. Michael McMahon was our first home in 52.12 ( 2nd O/35) followed by Brian Geraghty ( 53.38 – 1st O/45) Fergal Whitty (55.34 – 1st O/40) Ciaran Alyward ( 57.28) Des Tremble ( 57.28 – 3rd O/45) Phil Kilgannon ( 58.47) Ed Hayes ( 59.14) Sean McCann (60.42) Maurico Neto (67.45) Anthony Delaney ( 69.51) Ian Martin (70.10 ) Sorcha McCann ( 71.19) and Deirdre O’Toole (76.52)
Today Niamh Devlin continued her fine recent form with victory at the Dunleer 4 mile in a time of 23.48 and Barbara Murray took 3rd O/40 in 25.50.
Finally Alasdair Brown ran 17.03 at the La Cheile 5k Night of Pb’s and yes it was a 13 second pb for Alasdair.
