A number of top of the podium finishes this week to report which is great to see. We had a good number at the Irish Runner 10 mile in the Phoenix Park on Saturday were Caitriona Jennings won the womens race in 1:01.21 with Kiera Roche 7th (1:08.48) In the men’s race Fergal Whitty was our first finisher ( 7th / 2nd O/35 – 55.27) folllowed by Brian O’Mhurchu ( 1:00.20) Peter O’Neill ( 1:01.32) Ken Norgrove (1:02.30- 4th O/45) Dermot Brosnan ( 1:10.28) and Sean Donegan (1:11.01)
At the Oldcastle 5k on Wednesday Ilona McElroy scored another victory for the girls winning in a time of 19.06 with Paul Fleming just missed out on winning the men’s with a second place finish in 16.43. Not to be outdone however, Paul moved up one place and took victory yesterday at the DunleerĀ 4 mile ( 21.37) This time Ilona had to settle for 3rd place in the women’s in a time of 24.28.
At the Brockagh Imra race Caoimhin MacMaolain was our first home this time in 26th with Jack Drea next in 42nd followed by Tanya Sheridan who took 2nd place in the women’s race and finally Mick Gygax in 72nd.
Colm Moriarty duly obliged at the Day of Irish Pb’s at Le Cheile on Saturday by breaking 18 minutes for the first time by running 17.46. At the Kilkee Half Marathon in County Clare Pat O’Loan ran 1:36.09.
