A great performance from Ian Conroy yesterday at the Trials to make the Irish team for the World Mountain Running championships which are to be held in Argentina later this year. Ian duly obliged to make the team with his fine 2nd place.Ian’s performance is truly more remarkable as he has been battling a number of injuries over the last few months.
Earlier in the week Paul Fleming took control of the Masters category in the Pop Up Race series with another win in his category at the Castlepollard 5k with another sub 16 minute performance.
Terry Brady finished 8th overall in the Rathkenny 5k in 17.47.
Today we had a large contingent at the Kilcock 10 and it was to see so many of the new singlets on show. Paul Stephenson showed the benefits of a few of the sessions he has been doing with the group recently by finishing 2nd overall in 51.24 . Brian Geraghty finihsed 4th overall / 1st O/40 in 53.14. Paddy Walsh was next in a new PB (58.33) followed by Tom Feeley (58.55) Sean Fox (59.09) Ed Hayes (59.12 PB) Mark O’Connor 60.06 (PB) followed by the winner of the women’s race Niamh Devlin (61.11) with Andrea Talpo ( 64.34) Sabrina Keogh (64.39 PB) and Andy Davies (69.39)
