No international races to report on this week but still a number of races over the week where we had competitors at. Last Wednesday there was the BHAA race in the Phoenix Park with the OPW 5k trail race. Our first finisher was Geoff Duff in 12th place and Geoff also won the O/45 section. He was followed closely home by Linda Byrne who won the women’s race and next was Paraic Shortall in 15th place,with Maurico Neto ( 24th – 4th O/40) , Ollie McGrath (25th – 5th O/40) and Conor Patton ( 5th O/60).
Also on Wednesday night was the Scarr Imra race . Our first finisher this time was Brian Kitson in 14th ( 5th O/40) folllowed by Robbie Costello (20th) Conor Nolan ( 34th – 1st O/60) Gareth Little (36th) and Brian McGuickian ( 46th).
On Friday evening staying on the trail was the Braveheart 5k in Trim where Paul Fleming ( 3rd O/40 – 17.17) and Maurico Neto (20.11).
Saturday morning brought the Irish Runner 5 mile and Michael McMahon was our first home in 5th place ( 2nd O/35 – 25,30) followed by James Kelly who ran a 50+ second PB with 27.06. . Next was Conor McCarthy who ran 29.36 with Florrie Curley ( 32.40 – 1st O/45) and that man again Maurico Neto ( 3rd race in 4 days – 32.56) and Stuart Beattie ( 33.57).
Final result came from today with the Coihin Greenway 5k in Blessington where Linda Byrne followed her win from Wednesday with another one here. Linda almost won the race outright when she finished 2nd overall.
