hat a few days we have had with many magnificent performances coming from the group. It all began on a very wet and windy night in Sandyford with their 5k. Malika Hamanni who has been with the group for the last couple of years achieved the distinction of winning her first ever race by being the first female in 19.33. Ian Conroy almost made it a double by finishing 2nd in the mens race (16.26) Phil Kilgannon was 7th (17.24) James Hoare (17.58) and Chris Bigley (19.05)
Today was the beginning of the Autumn Marathon season and what an incredible start did each of the guys achieve. Our first home was Paddy Lyons (2:37.24 PB) followed by Sean Fox (2:44.44 PB) Ed Hayes (2:49.47 PB by 4 minutes) Shane McAuley ( 2:57.27) Flor O Donoghue (3:00) Conor Kinane ( 3:01.00 PB by 11 minutes) Andrea Talpo ( 3:01.27) Seamus Ruddy (3:09.48 PB by 5 minutes) Maurice McCrohan (3:23) and Johnny O’Brien (3:32.31) .
At the other end of the scale we had the 5k with the Annual Rathfarnham 5k. Paul Stephenson who has being attending the odd session lately was our first home in 10th place (14.59) followed by Paul Fleming ( 16.04 -2nd O/40) Colm Costelloe (16.46 -2nd O/45) Ronan Kearns (17.20) John McAuley (17.35) Ilona McElroy (18.30) Ollie McGrath (18.37) Malika Hammani , yes her again ( 18.47 a first time sub 19 PB) Conor Nolan (19.30 – 1st O/60 PB) Mick Gygax (20.10) Conor Patton (20.47) Alex Fraser (23.01) and diane McNevin (23.30 PB)
Also today Mark O’Connor was 14th at the Fastlane Half Marathon (1:27.06).
Finally yesterday , Ian Conroy did get that victory at the EcoTrail 18k in 1:25 with Caoimhin McMaolain 3rd in 1:37. Rob Costelloe was 12th in the 45k event and Rob Priestman 76th in the 80k .
