Some quite remarkable results from over the weekend. Not a large number competing from the group but for those who did the results were quite remarkable. I have to start with the Adare 10k. Rory O’Connor not only took the victory but also smashed the course record to boot with a 30.43 performance and taking the scalp of international runner Sean Hehir along the way. Not to be outdone Brian Geraghty produced a fine run as well with 6th place overall and runaway winner in the O/45 category in a time of 32.37.
We had another victory today , this time it came from Linda Byrne in the Duleek 5k in a time of 17.15. Brendan Murphy almost made it a treble but had to make do with the runners up spot at the Trooperstown IMRA race. with Ray Maghourty 31st and Brian McGuickan 33rd.
The guys at the NUI Maynooth Bhaa cross country yesterday obviously set the tone for weekend with some great perfomances as well. Our first home was Ronan Kearns in 5th followed very closely ( one second) by Fergal Whitty in 6th and Derek Taylor in 9th and in what must be a first for the group roan, Fergal and Derek took first , second and third in the O/40 category. Also running very well were Paraic Shortall in 11th overall and Andy Davies in the O/55 category.
A couple of other items to note. Firstly one race coming up that we normally have a big number at is the KClub 10k and this year takes place on Saturday 23rd March . It would be great if we could have a large number out in force again this year.
Secondly its that time of year when we have to start thinking about teams for the Wicklow Way relay . I f you are interested in being considered can you let me know soon as you can so we can see what we need to do in order of selection.
Finally, you all should have received an email from Andrea Talpo about looking to organise getting a TTracers running singlet .So if you can help him in anyway , I would appreciate it.
Regards
